PALM OIL AND ITS SALIENT FEATURES: Palm oil is a multipurpose vegetable oil fit for human consumption. It is colorless and odorless oil. It is derived from the mesocarp of the oil palm fruit, scientifically pronounced as Elaeis guineensis. 

Possessing the high content of carotene gives the oil a bright orange-red appearance. Alpha carotenes, Beta carotenes, and Lycopene are the main components of palm oil. And our body can naturally convert these carotenoids into vitamin A. 

Palm oil contains two main fractions; a liquid oil PALM OLEIN and a solid fraction STEARIN, attaining a semi-solid appearance at room temperature. Malaysia and Indonesia make up over 85% of the global supply.

  1. EDIBLE SOURCE: The main benefit of palm oil is its edible characteristic with a savory and earthy flavor. Palm oil is resistant and gives the product longer shelf life as a natural preservative. 

It is stable at high temperatures and helps to provide a crispy and crunchy texture to the fried items. Palm oil is often used as a shorter for salads and manufacturing margarine. Furthermore, it finds its use in non-dairy creamers and the flavoring of ice creams. Additionally, confectioners often use it in baked goods like bread, cookies, and muffins
